**These schools are in states that do NOT have LGBT-inclusive non-discrimination laws, but their home cities DO have LGB non-discrimination laws.

NOTE: On March 23, 2016, the North Carolina legislature passed a bill that invalidates every local LGBT non-discrimination law in the state.

How were the Equality Pool teams chosen?

Each team was selected based on two criteria:

1. Whether its home city has a non-discrimination law that is fully LGBT inclusive

2. Whether its home state has a non-discrimination law that is fully LGBT inclusive

How can I help my favorite team to make it into the Equality Pool next year?

Next year, in addition to considering state and city laws, Athlete Ally will use participation in the Sports Inclusion Project as a key factor for Equality Pool inclusion! Send your favorite schools to SportsInclusion.org to get them started and help them make it into the 2017 Equality Pool!
